Comprehensive Reimbursement Analysis
Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI’s) pose a significant risk to patient safety. All individual patients and society will clearly benefit from a reduced incidence of these infections. Despite the high incidence and mortality from HAI’s, resources to both understand and prevent these infections are limited. There is no Medicare or other reimbursement available to hospitals for expenses incurred for implementing infection control strategies. Since healthcare institutions are forced to make financial decisions about funding infection control programs, which are often seen as cost centers and not as revenue generators, infection control is often identified as a potential area for budget cuts.
THCx has the expertise to conduct an HAI analyses for the healthcare institution and then provide infection control interventions. We will also assess the impact of staff activities and the physical plant on the transmission and incubation of infectious agents. From the data we acquire, we will propose surveillance and control interventions, and implement electronic appliances to document the human activities and characteristics of mechanical systems, which contribute to specific HAI’s. These data will provide the hospital epidemiologist, ICP and administrator with the statistics necessary for an ongoing thorough and effective infection control program that will increase patient satisfaction and reduce the avoidable costs related to HAIs.
